The idea of Fairy Tale Re-Tellings is a series of five ambitious bronze studies, to begin with, representing famous figures from Fairy Tales, and somehow containing all the principle elements of their own stories, but attempting to achieve something entirely new too, an original work of Art and Sculpture.
The first is entitled “Material Transformation” , or “Pinocchi“.
Apologies for over explaining him before, sculpture is an antidote to words and art should speak for itself. Though calling him Pinocchi references the Trade Mark action Disney brought against an artist for even using the name Pinocchio
This piece is an Artist’s Proof and currently not for sale, although other unique and slightly different versions are available on commission, at the moment up to an effective edition of 6, though depending on work may be regarded as unique pieces.
The 2nd in the series is entitled “Woman Running From a Wolf”, based on the story of Little Red Riding Hood.
All the elements of various tellings and meanings of the story are in the work , from old legends to the Brothers’ Grimm and Angela Carter, but as the base suggests this is also turning a new page too, to create something entirely new. DCD 2018 Pietrasanta
