David’s novels and stories, from his first Fire Bringer, shown above in the Italian edition, to The Sight and Fell, The Telling Pool and The Terror Time Spies, have won him fans and plaudits right around the world. He has been described a “A Master of Fantasy” by Booklist in the UK, won starred Kirkus reviews in the US, was a Family Award winner and a 76 Selection winner.

His sculpture arises out of his love of nature, animals, stories and adventure and he is particularly fond of trying to capture life and form in movement.

Richard Adams, author of the loved World Classic Watership Down, described David’s novel Fire Bringer as “one of the best anthropomorphic fantasies known to him” – sculpture is a different kind of appreciation, but his Hummingbird series have been variously described as “delightful”, “enchanting” and “absolutely beautiful”.  Perhaps all art, like great literature, should contain an element of magic.
